Important notice letting public health community know of opportunity this Saturday on Oahu to help get out the education on dengue fever.
Aloha,
I am sending this urgent message to you because of your interest in protecting Hawaii's environment. As you are aware, Dengue Fever is threatening the people of our island.
We are asking that you help us in three ways to deal with this threat. Elicit volunteers to help distribute brochures to residents. Volunteers should report to their district park on Saturday, October 13 at 8 a.m.; we will finish by 11:00 a.m. Key City staff will be there to give instructions to the volunteers for the distribution of the brochures.
You can assist by volunteering yourself and by encouraging others to show up this Saturday to help spread the word about Dengue Fever and what actions residents can take to prevent the spread of this disease. Please call 523-CITY (523-2489) to pledge your support.
Inspect around your own home to eliminate potential breeding places for mosquitoes that transmit Dengue Fever. These include tires, planters, buckets, pots, clogged rain gutters, pans under flower pots, pet water dishes - anything that can collect water. Screens on windows and doors should be intact so mosquitoes cannot enter the home. Residents can also spray potted plants with insecticide or with a mixture of 4 ounces of liquid detergent to one gallon of water. For useful information and tips, please check the City web site at http://www.cleanwaterhonolulu.com
